St. Petersburg North Shore Park & Aquatic Center / Expansion and renovation of city park / 12,000 GSF

This award-winning expansion included three new building additions, a new 25-meter warm-up/training pool, a splash pool and renovations to the existing pool house. The 25-meter pool with zero depth entry also features a handicap accessible pool entry ramp and a new a zero-entry Youth/Kiddie Pool with water slides, bubbling jets and fountain features. The children’s splash pool includes flume slides and a large zero-depth entrance splash area. Water sprays from tall fountains and a fun-looking four-bucket splash device.

The new entry created a focal point, waiting area, security, sculpture display, and ticket booth. A folding, concrete canopy and a perforated sculpture enclosure were used to define an exterior room and invite entry from the north parking area. In addition to two new pools, this complicated expansion offered renovations to the existing locker and recreational pool house, a new pump building, site work, sea wall restoration, and site upgrades and landscaping the surrounding Park.

The new entry building houses a cashier station and administration offices for City staff. A multi-purpose building houses event and meeting space; locker and
shower facilities; and training classrooms.
