Florida Department of Health Miami-Dade Parking Garage / New 7-level parking garage / 148,000 GSF
This new 7-level parking garage is constructed adjacent to the new 4-story Miami-Dade Center of Excellence within an extremely confined, active occupied site. The 391-space garage features public access elevators and two elevators with controlled access to upper levels for DOH staff working within the DOH Health Campus.
The facility’s east façade includes metal sight-proof louvers to camouflage vehicles and enhance the exterior aesthetics per Miami 21 Code requirements, as well as providing natural ventilation eliminating the need for forced air fans, and cable rails vs. concrete railings for vehicular and pedestrian protection. Constructed on a confined, urban site adjacent to the new Miami-Dade Center of Excellence (Main Health Department), the facility sits on the property line with zero set-back necessitating the south wall to be constructed of ten-inch (10”) thick concrete to mitigate setback requirements. The south wall’s precast panels are match cast to reveal horizontal reticulation.
Construction is precast and included sustainable features to meet optimal environmental and energy saving standards as well as the Miami 21 Code and South Florida windload requirements.
