Florida Department of Health Miami-Dade Center of Excellence / New Multi-story healthcare facility / 65,000 GSF

The new four-story, 65,000 gross square feet Center of Excellence is the main Miami-Dade County Health Department (MDHD) and Administration Center. The new state-of-the-art replacement facility consolidates multiple departments and features a two-story glass entry lobby. Full clinic services include: medical exam and treatments rooms, radiology suites, diagnostic and testing labs, pharmacy, Tuberculosis Suite, sexually transmitted disease prevention, secured vital records, training rooms, conference rooms and various health service programs. The fourth floor houses the Miami-Dade District Administration Offices.

Serving as the MDHD Emergency Operation Center, it is designed beyond minimum code and hardened to withstand category five hurricane winds with backup generators able to produce emergency power to operate up to 72 hours. Building construction is poured concrete PSI structural system.

The project scope included demolition of existing structure, complete site and parking reconfiguration, utility relocation, landscaping and hardscaping. All construction was completed on a fully-occupied, high-density urban campus site adjacent to the Florida Department of Health’s Main Lab Facility.
